Ostrom Mushroom Farms is Launching
Vitamin D enhanced sliced Mushroms!
All 8 oz and 16 oz packaged sliced white and crimini mushrooms now contain 100% of the Daily Value of Vitamin D per 3 oz serving. That is 400 IU’s.!
Vitamin D and Mushrooms!
Mushrooms contain a plant sterol called ergosterol, which converts sunlight into vitamin D much the same as our human skin converts sunlight into vitamin D.
At Ostrom’s we expose mushrooms to a UV light for a matter of seconds to get a full 400 IU’s of vitamin D in a 3 oz serving. There is nothing added to the mushroom to help them absorb the light, it is all entirely natural.
Mushrooms are the only produce item that has vitamin D, making them the perfect whole food choice for people on restricted or alternative diets (vegans, lactose-intolerant or food allergies).
Visit our Vitamins page for more information.

Ostrom’s supports the new Hands On Children’s Museum in Olympia
Ostrom’s is proud to support the exciting expansion of the Hand’s On Children’s Museum in Downtown Olympia. Due to open in 2012 the new facility will not only house expanded exhibits for kids to explore, but it will also include an extensive outdoor exhibit area as well. The HOCM is one of the most successful Children’s Museums in the nation and attracts over 150,000 visitors a year. Projections for the new facility estimate over 200,000 visitors annually.
Sponsorship of the OHCM aligns with Ostrom’s corporate commitment to supporting our community, our kids and our health. Ostrom’s is involved in the Good For You Gallery at the new location. These exhibits teach kids where their food comes from with farmers, distributors, stores and restaurants all represented as part of the ‘farm to table’ process. Kids get to role play and learn ‘Hands On’!
