Dried mushrooms add a rich flavor to soups, stews, risottos, pasta sauces and gravies. Reconstitute dried mushrooms in one cup of hot water, wine or broth for 20-30 minutes. Squeeze out excess liquid and then chop or use whole. Use the soaking liquid in the recipes for additional flavor.
Look for packages that are free of any moisture and contain whole or large pieces of mushrooms. Avoid packages that have mostly small pieces or “crumbs” of mushroom.
Storage and Handling
Ostrom's dried mushrooms don't have to be used immediately. Dried mushrooms, stored in their sealed package away from light and heat, will keep up to one year. Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and light. Do not refrigerate. Follow package directions to reconstitute.
Don't forget! You do not have to wash, soak or peel mushrooms. Simply trim the roots from the stem.
